Engr. Anthony Odigwe: Managing Director (SEPLN)

Tony is a Mechanical Engineer, with 30 year’s post-graduation experience and duly registered with COREN and NSE. Most of my experience has been in the Oil and Gas sector, with the first 6 years in the Downstream and subsequent years in the Upstream of the sector.  Tony’s downstream experience had me working with a Castrol authorized blender of Castrol lubricants, Eterna Oil and Gas, in the Lagos, Port Harcourt and Warri offices, as a Lubricant Engineer. I handled the customers with the very large portfolios, like Wilbros Nigeria Limited, Eleme Petrochemicals, Port Harcourt Refinery, within the South -South region, and Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mill in the North Central region.

Tony migrated to the upstream sector in 1996, self-employed with partners at Paragon Supplies and Trading Company with a huge portfolio of OEM representations including companies like Elsag Bailey, Steadfast Engineering etc. and some clients like SPDC (Shell) and Mobil under Master purchase agreements. This went on till I moved investments to another support services company InterGlobal Procurement Engineering Services Ltd (IGPES) as Executive Director in charge of Projects and Engineering.

With my partners, we grew IGPES Ltd from a total strength of 6 to a permanent staff number of 52, with as much as 200 as project casual staffers. IGPES Ltd started off as a procurement company providing procurement services to SPDC, Mobil, AGIP, ELF, the refineries etc. to an OEM representative in Nigeria to Hanover Inc. providing local labor (Engineers, Safety officers, Procurement officers etc.) and services (logistics, Local procurement, Security etc.). Further growth saw us become local content partners to Hanover, during which time we jointly delivered two key projects for SPDC that were economy boosters. One of the projects boosted crude oil production by 11,000bpd through Gas lifting and the second boosted crude oil production by as much as 9,000bpd through gas re-injection into a dying reservoir. Both projects delivered months early and bonus paid us by SPDC. On each of the two projects, one at Otumara with SPDC West and the other at OGUTA 2 with SPDC East, we in team with our partners, Hanover, provided over 12 years of Operations and Maintenance services as both plants were leased from our partners by SPDC.

At the third stage IGPES became an Oil and Gas construction partner to Hanover (Now Exterran). Under this relationship we delivered a key project at Gbaran Ubie in Bayelsa state for SPDC and Nigeria. IGPES built an 80mmscfd gas plant designed to receive gas from nominated wells, clean the gas to specification and send to the Gbaran Ubie IPP as feed stock. The operations of this plant didn’t come to fruition at the planned time of commissioning because the IPP plant was not ready to receive gas.

IGPES had other projects and business activities going on including with clients like, NPDC, Total, AGIP, Addax, Refineries etc. In areas like Procurement, Service provision, Body shopping etc. We had other key partnerships including with front-end engineering companies like IMPaC out of Germany, with whom we executed some key engineering projects, under Call-off contracts with the IOCs. I was the team lead on behalf of my partners and company on all these projects with field and office responsibilities. I also have been in management positions since 1995.
